This link came from k-co back in September, and I meant to post it, really I did. Today, I was thinking: what exactly is the definition of GOTH, and what does it mean for a sub-culture?

Goth is wearing your utter disdain for all others as externally as you wear your black lipstick. If you don’t have the former, regardless of how much of the latter you wear, you aren’t a goth, you are a poseur (which can in of itself be ironically clever).
Here’s a question in addition - is steampunk a sub-genre of goth, or is it its own genre?

I personally believe that Steampunk is its own genre. Lots of folks who don’t get into goth at all are totally into Steampunk. Steampunk is more like a faction of cosplay, as I see it. Who knows if I’m “officially” correct, but screw those guys; they don’t know what they’re talking about anyway.

Basically, they all needs a hug.
